If you’ve ever driven through Boston’s Ted Williams Tunnel, you know it’s not exactly a place you want anything to go sideways. It’s a two-mile stretch of concrete and fluorescent lighting running under Boston Harbor, connecting the Massachusetts Turnpike to Logan Airport, and it moves a serious volume of traffic every single day. Which is exactly why Thursday morning’s crash turned into such a headache for everyone trying to get to work.
According to Boston 25 News, a MassDOT traffic camera caught the entire thing on tape. A car was flying down the eastbound left lane of the tunnel, and whatever happened next sent it rolling over into the right lane. Anyone who’s spent time around cars knows a rollover at speed inside an enclosed tunnel is about as far from a “fender bender” as it gets, and the footage backs that up.
What we don’t know yet is the interesting part, and unfortunately also the part nobody can answer right now. Investigators haven’t released a cause, and it’s still unclear whether the driver or anyone else was hurt.
