NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — After years of asking for relief from the constant roar of Interstate 26, residents in one North Charleston neighborhood are one step closer to getting it.
North Charleston Mayor Reggie Burgess worked with the Charleston County Council Tuesday to set aside $17 million for a proposed noise wall at the Palmetto Commerce Interchange during the third and final reading of an ordinance. The funding would be included in the Roadway Infrastructure category of the proposed Charleston County transportation sales tax referendum, which voters will decide on in November.
