COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – Dozens of people gathered Wednesday night to remember Anthony Onochie, an 18-year-old Northside High School graduate killed in a Lee County shooting earlier this month.
Family members said Onochie carried a 4.3 GPA and had planned to begin attending Georgia State University next month.
Shooting under investigation
Investigators say Onochie was shot in the early morning hours of July 11 at an overnight gathering on Lee Road 197. He was taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional, where he later died.
Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones said the shooting stemmed from a fight between minors at the gathering. No suspects have been named, and the case remains an active investigation.
