FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – In front of a crowd of more than 8,000 fans for Thirsty Thursday, the TinCaps are leaving fans starved after a 15-3 loss to Lake County on Thursday.
Fort Wayne scored three runs in the first inning to take a 3-1 lead, but the TinCaps were shut out the rest of the night. Kavares Tears grounded into a fielder’s choice, but an E6 allowed two runs to score and give the TinCaps a 2-1 lead. Jack Costello then drove in Tears on a groundout to give Fort Wayne a 3-1 margin through one inning.
Lake County ended Thursday’s contest by scoring 14 unanswered runs. That includes a 3-run third inning that put the Captains in front for good. Jeffrey Mercedes started the third inning with a solo shot to right field. Jace LaViolette drilled a RBI double off the right field wall to tie the game at 3-3.
