A 60-year-old woman opened fire inside a Northeast Philadelphia apartment early Wednesday in an attempt to break up a domestic fight between a 38-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman, leaving the man in critical condition with a gunshot wound and a stab wound, police said.
The shooting happened at about 12:45 a.m. on the 6600 block of Martins Mill Road in the Lawndale section, according to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small. Officers who responded to a report of gunshots found blood and spent shell casings at the scene but no victim, Small said.
Man fled with the gun, found blocks away
Investigators say the 60-year-old woman initially fired to stop the altercation between the man and the younger woman. The 38-year-old man then allegedly rushed at the older woman, and she fired at least two more times before the man took the firearm from her and fled onto Fanshawe Street, according to investigators.
Officers found the man a few minutes later near Robbins Street and Rising Sun Avenue, about four blocks from the apartment, Fox 29 reported. He was conscious and talking, Small said. Officers recovered a handgun from him at that location…
