Pleasanton officially joined the national chicken craze Thursday morning, as Chick-fil-A flipped on the lights at its first restaurant in the Atascosa County city south of San Antonio. The new spot is run by local owner-operator Veronica Vasquez, a San Antonio native who worked her way up through the company ranks before landing the keys to the Pleasanton location.
Opening details and community gift
According to Chick-fil-A, Chick-fil-A Pleasanton started serving customers at 6:30 a.m. Thursday and is expected to bring roughly 100 jobs to the community. The chain broke in the new dining room with a “Moove-In Party” and paired the celebration with a $25,000 donation to the San Antonio Food Bank, while the restaurant is set to take part in the company’s Shared Table food-rescue program.
“As someone who grew up in San Antonio, I’m excited to put down roots in Pleasanton and serve this community,” Vasquez said. She first joined Chick-fil-A in 2006 as a high school team member, then moved through leadership roles before being selected as the local owner-operator, according to Chick-fil-A.
Opening-day perks and service
Customers who showed up in cow print on opening day could score one free entrée or a kid’s meal as part of the chain’s signature grand-opening promotion. The restaurant at 620 W Oaklawn Road will offer dine-in, drive-thru, carry-out and third-party delivery options, per mySanAntonio.
Build, permits and local impact
State project records filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation list the Pleasanton site as a new 4,930-square-foot restaurant with a drive-thru and show construction work registered in 2025, according to the agency’s project page.
