Nancy Guthrie Update: Unverified Ransom Note Suggests Cause of Her Alleged Death (Report)

The second of two primary ransom notes sent after Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance contains an alarming claim about what allegedly happened to the missing 84-year-old. While there is no evidence that Guthrie has died—and authorities have never verified the authenticity of the ransom notes—the contents of the second message were read aloud by journalist Briana Whitney during an episode of the Crime Junkie podcast.

“We did not fully grasp the seriousness of her physical conditions. We never intended to hurt her,” Whitney read on the podcast. “That was not our intention. She perished shortly after she was taken. We believe it was heart related. She is buried in nature now. Nothing you could have done could have changed the outcome. We are truly sorry.”The message appears to reference Guthrie’s known medical conditions. The FBI has previously said Guthrie had mobility issues, relied on heart medication, and had a pacemaker to help regulate her heartbeat.
