Newark took legal action against NJ Best Management LLC and 380 South 6th St. LLC this week. Mayor Ras Baraka made the announcement as part of a wider push to crack down on landlords who break city rules.
The mayor’s office said the company owns and runs a building with several rental units. Officials claim the landlords “exploits its renters, puts their health, safety, and welfare at risk, and defies rent control, maintenance, housing, health, and safety requirements codified in our city ordinances.”
