Friday afternoon, while most of Tucson was already under a brutal 105-degree heat warning, eight people lost their homes in under an hour. Not to a wildfire. To a leaking propane tank.

On July 24, 2026, at around 12:37 PM, Tucson Fire Department got the call near Valencia Road and Park Avenue on the southside. Engine 14 was on scene in three minutes.

What they found was a single-wide mobile home at the 1000 block of East Ginter Road, already fully engulfed.
