FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – A return of humid and muggy conditions on Saturday will persist today, with temperatures into the upper 80s despite increasing clouds into the afternoon hours. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible overnight into Monday as well, but confidence in thunderstorms is very low although the possibility is there.
Monday looks to be the warmest day of the work week, with temperatures right around that 90 degree mark. Heat Index values could be in the middle 90s making for a return to true summer heat. This atmosphere will also be ripe for storms however, and as such we do expect the chance for severe weather Monday afternoon and into the overnight hours.
Confidence is still very low on when and where storms fire, but clusters of thunderstorms are possible late in the day and into the overnight hours. The Storm Prediction Center has our area in a Slight (2/5) risk, with the possibility of further upgrades. Damaging winds will be the main threat with any storm, but a brief spin-up tornado or two cannot be ruled out Monday night…
