Property of Villager who claims rebuffed buyer called Community Standards subject of deed compliance hearing

A Villager’s home with unapproved landscaping was the subject of a deed compliance hearing.

Community Standards received a complaint on April 20 regarding landscaping at the residence of John and Eileen Davis on Dove Hollow Run in the Village of St. Charles, according to testimony presented by staff at the hearing on Monday at the Brownwood District Office. The complaint, which John Davis claimed was filed by a rebuffed buyer, included unapproved landscaping, a walkway and a patio on the side of the home, as well as a patio in the rear of the property.

Staff verified the violations and confirmed there was no application on file with the Agricultural Review Committee. A previous ARC application from 2015 addressed some of the front landscaping but did not cover the additional landscaping or the patios.

After contacting the realtor, the staff was put in touch with the homeowners’ son. He was told ARC applications needed to be submitted for the additional work on the property, and certain non-compliant items would need to be removed.

An ARC application was subsequently approved on June 17, and corrective work is scheduled to begin on July 20. The home remains out of compliance as of an inspection on July 16…
