Good morning and happy Sunday!
We have a rinse and repeat forecast ahead with showers and storms once again. This morning a few showers were indicated on radar in McKinley, San Juan, Cibola and Catron counties. Meanwhile, temperatures have fallen into the 50s, 60s and 70s for this morning’s lows around the state. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop once again in the afternoon across parts of western, northern and southwest New Mexico. These isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected to bring the potential for pockets of heavy rainfall. The National Weather Service (NWS) will issue Flood Watches, from 12-9 pm, for parts of McKinley, Cibola and Catron counties for the possibility of storms dropping heavy rainfall. Showers are expected to linger overnight across the state along with cloud coverage too.
While there will be abundant surface moisture today across the state, drier air will shift into eastern and southern New Mexico in the upper atmosphere. The drier air will stick around through midweek across parts of the south and east limiting rain chances. The rest of the state will still see the chance for showers and storms through midweek in light of the monsoon high.
