A Charlotte nursing home’s prioritization of profit over patient care caused a resident’s health to decline following repeated infections and injuries caused by neglect, a lawsuit filed against the facility alleges.
Francine Sabino, a resident at The Citadel at Myers Park from December 2019 to November 2024, suffered years of repeated infections, sepsis, multiple skin wounds — including a large buttock abscess — and inappropriate touching by another resident during her time at the facility. Those incidents led to pain and suffering, mental anguish and Sabino’s physical decline, a lawsuit filed by her brother in Mecklenburg Superior Court in December claims.
