Michigan State Police to host annual Safety Day for families Tuesday

LANSING, Mich. (News 10) – The Michigan State Police will host its annual Safety Day for children and families on Tuesday.

The free, family-friendly event will feature about 40 informational stations focused on child and family safety.

Activities and services will include:

  • Child identification kits with fingerprinting, photographs and voice recordings for children and vulnerable adults. The information will be saved to a flash drive for families to keep and provide to law enforcement in an emergency.
  • A school bus safety demonstration.
  • A “Hidden in Plain Sight” display trailer highlighting signs of teen substance use.
  • Free bicycle helmet giveaways.
  • Safe Kids-certified child safety seat inspections and a vehicle heatstroke demonstration.
  • CarFit assessments to help older drivers properly adjust to their vehicles.
