JENKS, Okla. — Over a year into the Elm widening project, residents say they understand construction comes with frustrations — but they want answers about why the project continues to face delays and whether the current conditions could impact emergency response.
The City of Jenks on Facebook says the project has faced unexpected challenges, including underground utility conflicts and material delays, but residents living near the construction zone say the ongoing work has created daily challenges.
“It’s dusty, it’s dirty, there’s holes in the ground, there’s metal plates across that you have to navigate,” said Jenks resident Kath Williams. “All of that is expected. We just don’t expect it to take this long and have this many delays that are unexplained.”…
