East Gainesville waits for word on transformative HUD grant

It could be known soon whether the Gainesville Housing Authority and the city of Gainesville will receive a $26 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to help revitalize an area of east Gainesville.

“We are expecting to find out any day now if we are one of the cities chosen to receive the grant,” said Pamela Davis, executive director of GHA, while attending the inaugural Grassroots “Eat Like it Matters” community dinner held at the Elite Training Center Plaza in east Gainesville on July 18.
