After a brief break in the intense summer humidity last week, it is back on full blast! A heat advisory goes into effect today at 11 am through 7 pm for all of our coastal counties as well as Wayne & Long Counties. Heat index values will be as high as 105-110°. High temperatures also climb back into the mid to upper 90s. This begins our stretch of dangerous summer heat and humidity. This type of humidity can easily wear you down if you spend too much time outside.
For the 4th time in Savannah this year, we could hit 100° for the actual high temperature. Tuesday and Wednesday look to be the hottest, most humid days over the 7 day forecast. High temperatures remain in the upper 90s to 100° with heat index values increasing. There is a chance feel-like temperatures could reach 115° for multiple spots closer to the coast, like Beaufort and Hilton Head. We do not have an Extreme Heat Watch or Warning as of 8 am Monday, but I wouldn’t be surprised if one gets issued and takes the Heat Advisory’s place over the next two days.
Today and Tuesday will be mainly dry outside of a stray rain shower or storm. By Wednesday, a slow-moving cold front arrives and brings us a slightly higher chance of storms. While the cooling storm chance is nice, the main focus will be on the heat relief arriving behind the front.
It stays hot with highs back closer to average in the low to mid 90s. But our heat index values fall to around 100°. This will be a much-needed break from the next 3 days! Rain chances increase over the weekend!…
