Lincoln and much of southeast Nebraska face one more day of dangerous heat before a passing front brings some relief.
The National Weather Service has an Extreme Heat Warning in effect for Lancaster County and much of eastern and southeastern Nebraska until 10 p.m. Monday. The warning says heat-index readings could reach 115 degrees in parts of the region. Lincoln’s point forecast calls for a high near 101, with the heat index approaching 109.
National Weather Service meteorologist Jesse Castillo told KLIN the most oppressive conditions will generally be found along and south of Interstate 80.
“For today, it’s looking like we’ll have one last day of the dangerous heat in place,” Castillo said. “We’ll see heat-index values peak anywhere from around 105 to maybe up to 118.”…
