COLUMBUS, Ohio — During the week of July 19 to July 25, the Ohio State Highway Patrol and other local and state partners worked together to target reckless driving along Interstate 270.
Here are the results:
- 961 speed citations
- 84 citations for safety belt violations
- 121 distract driving citations
- Two arrests of drivers for impaired driving
Of the speed citations, 19 of them included drivers going over 100 mph, according to OSHP.
Since the beginning of the year, about 800 crashes have been reported on I-270, according to the patrol. Officials said speed remains the leading factor in deadly crashes, while distracted and impaired driving also continue to contribute to serious collisions.
