Firefighters rescue cat, hamster from burning Palm Beach County home

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A family pet is safe after Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews rescued a cat from a burning home Monday night in unincorporated Palm Beach County.

According to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, crews were dispatched around 9 p.m. to the 5000 block of Basil Avenue for a reported structure fire. Firefighters arrived in about three minutes to find a single-story home with heavy smoke and flames coming from the building.

The homeowner told firefighters that everyone had made it out safely, but one black cat was still missing inside the house. As some crews attacked the fire, others searched the smoke-filled home for the pet…
