PHOTOS: Severe storms down trees, leave thousands without power in North Carolina

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — More than 15,000 people across western North Carolina are experiencing power outages due to a severe thunderstorm warning across the region Tuesday evening.

Per Duke Energy’s outage map, a majority of these outages are concentrated in Asheville and surrounding areas. As of 7:40 p.m., there are more than 12,000 outages in and around Buncombe County.

The outage map also shows approximately 1,000 outages in Waynesville, 400 in the Franklin area, and 300 near both Cashiers and Bryson City…
