HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Evansville Police announced that three handguns were removed from the streets following a traffic stop and a foot pursuit on Monday night.
Foot chase leads to drug charges
According to a release, officers saw Antonio Jones Jr., 24, standing near a vehicle while holding a handgun. As officers approached him and Devontae Jones, 25, police say Devontae threw a handgun into a vehicle and the two men fled on foot. Both suspects were apprehended and taken into custody.
During a search of the vehicle, officers say they located a handgun with an extended magazine, fentanyl, MDMA and marijuana. After the two men were in custody, officers also reportedly recovered the handgun carried by Antonio.
Arresting documents show that Devontae Jones was on parole following a felony aggravated battery conviction.
Devontae Jones was charged with dealing a narcotic drug, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon and resisting law enforcement. Antonio Jones was charged with resisting law enforcement and failure to appear.
