Growing East Montgomery community adds mixed-use project

Hampstead, a residential community in East Montgomery that spans hundreds of acres, has plans to provide more third spaces in Montgomery through one of the first true mixed-use buildings in that part of the city.

The neighborhood recently launched a new phase of development to add nearly 100 homes on the 18 acres that span above Hampstead Lake. Now, the development plans include the SAC Building, a $4.4 million three-story building that will combine residential, professional and retail space.

Though it’ll be the sixth commercial structure in the community and the second-tallest building in the community, owner and developer of The SAC Building Mark Pierce said that the project is exciting because the type of development is the first of its kind in Hampstead and “still relatively uncommon” in East Montgomery as a whole. Though some mixed-use buildings exist downtown and in Cloverdale, Pierce said this kind of building isn’t something East Montgomery has really experienced before…
