LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Wild overnight thunderstorms brought torrential rains through Lincoln overnight.
Rainfall rates were exceeding 5″/hour at times, with strong winds measured at 60-mph at the Lincoln airport.
Past all of that, much of town was left with anywhere between 1.5 to over 3″ of rainfall.
Another thing to be aware of Tuesday: while wildfire smoke from northern Minnesota and states northwest from Nebraska may create hazy skies and a faint smell of smoke, major visibility impacts are not expected.
Relief Arrives Tuesday
Highs will only reach the upper 80s to low 90s — a significant drop from the dangerous conditions of recent days. Isolated showers and storms remain possible Tuesday afternoon, but chances are low at around 20%.

Strong storms will be possible in western Nebraska by Tuesday evening, with the main threats of gusty winds and some hail as they move southeast through southwest Nebraska into Wednesday morning.
Wednesday will remain warm with highs in the mid-80s to low 90s as high pressure settles over the region.
