SPARKS, Nev. — A coordinated search involving multiple law enforcement agencies ended Tuesday when deputies located a 23-year-old inmate who walked away from a Washoe County Sheriff’s Office work crew on July 27.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office said Chase Orput left an inmate work crew on Monday, July 27, at about 1:30 p.m.
Deputies found him Tuesday, July 28, at about 1:00 p.m. near Interstate 80 and the railroad tracks around mile marker 21.
Authorities said a citizen from a nearby business recognized Orput and contacted the Sparks Police Department. That information helped direct Sparks police officers and Washoe County sheriff’s deputies to the area.
