BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — Authorities in Buncombe County are asking for the public’s help in finding a man who they say fled from deputies during a traffic stop, according to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office.
Around noon on Tuesday, July 28, members of the agency’s Illegal Gun Reduction and Narcotics Task Force attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by James Eugene Cole III. Authorities said Cole had outstanding failure-to-appear warrants from prior investigations.
The sheriff’s office said Cole fled in his vehicle, leading to a brief chase in the Fairview area. Authorities said Cole later abandoned his vehicle after crashing it near the 900 block of Old Fort Road…
