BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 33-year-old woman was arrested last week for allegedly vandalizing downtown Bakersfield, which included the Kern County Veterans Memorial and the Department of Human Services. Police reported that the repairs cost several thousand dollars.
On July 23, 2026, Bakersfield Police Department Impact Unit officers arrested Marina Leanne Smith, 33, for allegedly vandalizing two different locations. Smith was on an active parole violation warrant. Officials authorized a bail enhancement to prevent her from being released with a promise to appear. She was booked into Lerdo Jail.
