MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Memphis police are praising their own after officers successfully rescued a man from fast-moving floodwaters last week.
Police said that on July 25, just before 7 p.m., Crump Station officers responded to a call about a man seen floating in Cypress Creek and screaming for help. Officers located the man but initially could not keep up with the rapid current.
An officer ran to the creek embankment and found the man clinging to a tree branch. Officers then used additional branches to pull him safely to shore.
Police said the man had been reported missing by family members, and the rescue took more than three hours…
