Clay, N.Y. — A man forged signatures and posed as his dead mother-in-law for nearly a decade, illegally collecting more than $140,000 in Social Security benefits, according to federal prosecutors.
Zvonko Klapan, 68, of Clay, was arraigned Friday in Binghamton on three counts of wire fraud, aggravated identity theft and theft of government property, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York.
