Planning is underway for Wilmington’s first Culver’s restaurant.
The first local restaurant for the Wisconsin-based chain, which is known for its frozen custard, Butterburgers and cheese curds, is planned on a 1.5-acre site near the corner of Sigmon Road and Van Campen Boulevard, according to site plans submitted to the city of Wilmington.
Plans include demolishing the existing 7,100-square-foot building on the site, which formerly housed home goods store Kirkland’s Home. A 4,500-square-foot restaurant building with a two-lane drive-thru would be constructed in its place, according to site plans. Wisconsin-based franchisee Dimitro Group LLC is developing the proposed Culver’s location, according to site plans. A group representative did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment…
