Violent crime went down but arrests went up in Worcester, crime data shows

For the first half of 2026, The city of Worcester has seen a decrease in violent crimes and property-related crimes but a rise in arrests.

The Worcester Police Department this week posted on social media crime statistics from the period between January to June 2026. The post also features crime statistics from the past five years.

So far in 2026, there have been 70,833 incidents where police and members of the public have interacted, a drop from 73,119 in 2025 but higher than the five-year average of 66,060. These incidents are broken down by 911 calls, calls for service, incidents initiated while officers are on patrol and other unnamed origins, according to the data…
