BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Between April and May, the Bakersfield Police Department reported mixed results on operational trends within its Community Vitality program.
The Community Vitality program is an initiative that works to respond to homelessness-related concerns across the city, ranging between encampments, trespassing or public safety concerns.
When dispatching help to where it is needed, the program — which is led through the city — “triages” calls to determine who is best to respond, between a police officer or a city partner, like Flood Ministries, said Lieutenant Nicole Anderberg with the Bakersfield Police Department.
