Bay Area microclimates could soon produce their most pronounced temperature contrasts of the year — or last year — as a heat wave builds across the interior valleys while the coast remains mild.
A long-duration heat wave will soon roast most of California, though San Francisco will dodge the most extreme temperatures. As interior portions of the Bay Area flirt with triple digits for days, the city is expected to remain in the 60s and 70s, though an 80-degree day is not out of the question next week.
