KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A group of volunteers came together on Wednesday to build a new playground for Montgomery Village. The playground was designed during several community design sessions in June.
Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation (KCDC), the City of Knoxville, Knox County, and playspace nonprofit KABOOM! gathered around 150 volunteers at Community Unity Park, located at 4530 Joe Lewis Road, to build the playground next to the Community Unity Greenway. The work began with the site being prepped on Monday and Tuesday, with the build day on Wednesday.
One resident, Kanesha Long, told 6 News that she has been waiting a long time for a playground and now she is excited for her children to have a “fun, safe place to play.”…
