MOBILE, Ala. (NBC 15) — Prichard could be just days away from losing its municipal insurance coverage, and the city council’s attorney says no replacement policy has been presented to the council. The city sought bids for municipal insurance covering city buildings, vehicles, general liability, cyber liability, public officials, and law enforcement. Bids were due July 20th.
“To my knowledge, no bids have been received,” said City Council Attorney Moshae Donald.
Donald says the city’s high claim rate and lack of cooperation during claims investigations caused the Alabama Municipal Insurance Corporation (AMIC) to drop the city’s coverage. She says an appeal to AMIC, which insures approximately 95% of all public entities in state, was unsuccessful…
