RI Constable’s License Suspended – Reportedly Blocked Resident Facing Eviction From Helping Autistic Son
A Rhode Island constable has been suspended by the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulations (DBR) after witnesses say he blocked a resident facing eviction from entering his home to help his autistic son.
A review of state and court documents by GoLocal shows that Michael Clemente – who has been a certified constable in Rhode Island since 2004 – was arrested by Providence Police following the incident in March 2026 for filing a false police report and disorderly conduct.
The consent agreement between DBR and Clemente, executed in June, shows that witnesses interviewed by police say Clemente was “aggressive and combative” and “threatened to pepper spray the resident” when he arrived for the eviction at the unnamed address on March 4, 2026…
