A shark sighting off Carpinteria City Beach on Saturday afternoon prompted city lifeguards to post a warning sign for beachgoers from July 25 to July 27.
Lifeguards with the city of Carpinteria’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department placed the advisory after a shark was spotted in the open water near Holly Avenue, closest to Lifeguard Tower 2, at approximately 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 25.
