PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A man is behind bars after investigators say he was caught on surveillance video using a hammer to smash a jewelry store’s glass door, steal more than $112,000 in merchandise and flee on foot, according to the Town of Palm Beach Police Department.
According to an arrest affidavit, at about 2:32 a.m., officers responded to a burglary at Foundrae, a jewelry store located at 450 S. County Road. When officers arrived, they found the store’s front glass entry door shattered and two glass display cases broken into.
The affidavit says detectives reviewed surveillance footage that showed the suspect, identified as Montrel J. Banks, breaking into the store while wearing a black hooded jacket, black pants, a white surgical mask, black gloves and what investigators believe were Adidas sneakers.
