COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – With school days away, families in Georgia and Alabama are being reminded to complete several requirements before the first day of class.
Health screenings and vaccine requirements
In Georgia, health officials say pre-K, kindergarten and new students need vision, dental, hearing and nutrition screenings. Seventh graders must receive a Tdap shot and a meningococcal shot. Eleventh graders need a meningococcal booster, unless their first dose was given at or after age 16.
In East Alabama, state health officials say students must be up to date on shots including DTaP, polio, MMR and chickenpox before they can start school.
Registration deadline
About 10,000 Muscogee County students were unregistered just over a week ago. As of the time of this report, that number has dropped significantly, but officials say families should complete the process immediately…
