TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WSAV) — Tybee Island Fire Department officials are reminding beachgoers to stay aware of beach hazards, as the number of emergency calls around drifting rafts and heat cases has increased and jellyfish season begins.
Tybee Island Fire Department Special Operations Captain Tadd Rubin said he recommends leaving all floats at home to avoid drifting away in offshore winds.
“It can sometimes give people a false sense of security,” said Rubin. “When people aren’t very good swimmers, especially children, it can allow them to get caught in some kind of a rip current.”…
