SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) The National Weather Service in Binghamton confirmed that a tornado touched down Wednesday in South Brookfield, Madison County.
The storm was on the ground for about two minutes and traveled just under a mile before dissipating.
The tornado touched down just before 2 pm near Beaver Creek Road. The first observed damage was on the east side of the road, where there were broken small tree limbs and branches. An uprooted hardwood tree was observed on the west side of the road.
The tornado then continued southward along Beaver Creek Road, resulting in minor tree damage along its path. It then crossed Beaver Creek Road, just east of Chesebro Road and crossed a small pond. Minor tree damage was observed along the banks of this pond. The last observed damage was found at a cemetery along Morgan Road.
