People can explore the history of downtown Rockford’s lost buildings during a River District Historic Walking Tour that begins at 5:30 p.m. July 30 near the Rockford Public Library.
The tour will start across from the library and focus on historic structures that no longer exist, according to a community announcement. Participants will view historic photographs of buildings that were demolished and learn about their architectural significance as they visit the locations where the structures once stood.
Organizers say many of the sites have since become parking lots or open space.
