CATOOSA COUNTY, Ga. — A fight over how to fund major school construction projects in Catoosa County has escalated into a lawsuit, with the school district warning those projects could now be in jeopardy if county commissioners fail to approve a bond resolution.
The dispute is between the Catoosa County School District and the Catoosa County Board of Commissioners. The school board says voters approved an education sales tax at the ballot last year, which would free up tens of millions of dollars in bonds.
A lawsuit filed by the school district accuses the board of commissioners of failing to pass a back-up tax resolution, which the school district says is required by state law.
