Child neglect bond hearing collapses after judge reveals pending cases

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A woman charged with felony child neglect lost a potential bond deal Thursday after a judge revealed she had pending cases she had not disclosed, prompting prosecutors to withdraw their offer on the spot.

Kayla Wells appeared in court expecting to finalize a bond agreement. Prosecutors had been prepared to offer her a $1,000 bond with a condition of no contact with her minor children.

Deal falls apart in court

Before the agreement was finalized, the judge told prosecutors he was aware of two additional cases pending against Wells in Division 14.

These are state criminal charges, not city traffic ordinances. Prosecutors said they had not been informed of those cases…
