WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WJAR) — A 75-year-old Woonsocket man was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Mendon Road Wednesday night, and neighbors say the tragedy has renewed concerns about safety on one of the city’s busiest roads.
The crash happened on Mendon Road. Police said the man was taken to Landmark Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
In an updated statement Thursday, Woonsocket Police Chief Thomas Oates said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
“The crash is still under investigation so there is no report available,” Oates wrote in an email to NBC10. “The operator involved remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. The Accident Reconstruction officers responded to the scene and are in the process of completing their report. There are no charges against the operator at this time.”…
