ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – A Roanoke convenience store owner lost a month’s worth of revenue after a burglar broke into his store overnight, roughly 40 minutes after closing.
The break-in happened at Dove and Cardinals Convenience Store on Melrose Avenue. Owner Sheraz said he locked up around 12:15 or 12:20 a.m. when the burglar struck.
How the burglar got in
Sheraz said the intruder cut the wires to an air conditioning unit mounted on an outside wall, then pushed the unit inward until it dropped, creating an opening into the store.
“I left the store at usual time about 12:15, 12:20. And right after I left, I believe after like 40 minutes… they cut the wires for the air conditioning and they pushed the air conditioner. The air conditioner dropped,” Sheraz said.

Once inside, the person spent nearly 25 minutes rummaging through the store. The burglar cleaned out the cash register and targeted the slot machine…
