The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) credits the recent decline in violent crime rates across the United States to the deportation of violent criminal illegal immigrants, calling it a “common sense” approach to public safety.
A new report from the Council on Criminal Justice (CCJ), released this month, highlights a significant drop in crime nationwide. Homicides in several large U.S. cities have decreased by 18% compared to last year, on track to reach their lowest levels since 1900. Other crimes are also down sharply: carjackings have fallen 47%, motor vehicle thefts by 20%, robberies by 17%, and residential burglaries by 13%.
The White House has praised these figures as “extraordinary progress,” framing them as a fulfillment of President Trump’s commitment to restoring law and order.
Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security Lauren Bis told Fox News Digital, “It is common sense. When you remove criminals from the country, crime rates fall.”
DHS provided Fox News Digital with details on some of the recently deported individuals, describing them as among the “worst of the worst.” These deportees include foreign nationals convicted of serious crimes such as homicide, drug trafficking, aggravated assault, and carjacking, as well as those who had repeatedly re-entered the country illegally.
Among those deported was Jared Adonay Cruz-Rivera, a Honduran national linked to the foreign terrorist group Tren de Aragua. He was removed from the U.S. on July 18 following prior robbery convictions and drug possession charges.
Other deportees include Olegario Ramirez, a Mexican national and Paisas gang member with a history of homicide and illegal re-entry, deported on July 27; Bulmaro Rendon-Ramos, also Mexican and affiliated with the Surenos gang, with convictions for robbery, burglary, and multiple DUI offenses; and Nammoun Khampanya, a Crips gang member from Laos convicted of cocaine possession, weapons charges, obstruction, and fraud, deported on July 28.
Additional deportations include Cuban national Omar Loaces Gonzalez, convicted of vehicle theft and wire fraud, and Haitian national Marc James Guerrier Pinard, convicted of armed carjacking and burglary.
Bis emphasized that these deportations are part of the Trump administration’s broader efforts to enhance safety. “President Trump promised to make America safe again, and he has done just that,” she said.
“Crime has fallen to record lows under the Trump administration, including murders on pace to drop to the lowest level in 126 years. It’s no surprise that this drop in crime coincides with deportations of dangerous criminal illegal aliens.”
