CLEVELAND (WJW) — One of Cleveland’s big grocery store locations is shutting down for good on Friday.
Heinen’s announced last month plans to shut down its downtown location at East 9th Street and Euclid Avenue, with the last day marked for July 31.

“This was a difficult decision, and we appreciate the efforts of our associates and the support of our customers to make this store successful,” Jeff Heinen, co-president of Heinen’s, said in a statement at the time of the announcement. “We wish it would have been a more favorable outcome. Despite ongoing adjustments, the store did not reach the level of long-term sustainability needed to continue operating.”
The store is one of the few grocery options in downtown Cleveland, and opened back in 2015 in the old Ameritrust Rotunda.
