PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — RIPTA is planning to build a new transportation hub next to the Providence Amtrak station, but details on when shovels might hit the ground for the project are still taking shape.
RIPTA CEO Christopher Durand believes the long-awaited Providence Transportation Hub will be transformational for the region, but didn’t provide any information on the project’s timeline Friday afternoon.
“We are grateful to our Congressional delegation for their steadfast support and commitment to investing in infrastructure that will benefit Rhode Islanders for generations,” Durand said. “This new, state-of-the-art Providence Transit Center will create a true intermodal transportation hub, seamlessly connecting people to jobs, education, healthcare, and opportunities throughout Rhode Island and the Northeast.”
