TOPEKA (KSNT) – Kansas education officials report that six school districts have been selected to participate in an initiative that reimagines state assessments.
Denise Kahler with the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) said in a press release that the U.S. Department of Education (ED) has selected several of the state’s school districts to participate in a new approach to statewide assessments. She said Kansas is one of only seven states approved to participate in the Innovative Assessment Demonstration Authority (IADA) pilot program since it got started in 2018.
Kahler said the KSDE will start implementing the Kansas Through-Year Curriculum-Directed Assessment for the 2026-2027 school year. The following school districts in Kansas have been selected to participate in this program:
- Kansas City, Kansas USD 500
- Olathe USD 233
- Geary County USD 475
- Dodge City USD 443
- Great Bend USD 428
- Humboldt USD 258
The KSDE plans for this pilot program to last for the next five years. Education officials hope to add more districts each year…
